Professional Tax is a tax of any profession in Pakistan and it was implemented by the Finance Department in the act of 1977. The professional tax was deducted on any profession income or earnings. It should be deducted on the employment of the current financial year. In addition to any tax, it may pay to any tax or duty.
This tax is directly deducted from the salary slips of government employees but the applicants may visit the office of excise and taxation for submitting this tax personally. There are different offices in different cities of Pakistan to collect such types of taxes.
The applicant must attach the following documents to submit in the office.
- · Application on the letter pad
- · CNIC Copy of Taxpayer
- · Write NTN (National-Tax-Number)
- · Proof of authorized Registration of taxpayer
- · Leasing agreement office
- · Monthly employees salary slip
- · Income or sales-tax proof
- · Fee Challan
In return, a certificate will be given to the taxpayer.
Professional Tax of Teachers:
The professional tax of teachers was deducted before in the month of April and October every year. It was about 100 rupees in these two months and a total 200 rupees per annum. After coming of the PTI government it is decided that it does not deduct the professional tax because employees are deducting income tax in the financial year or so. This type of tax has been shown in the deduction section of the salary slip of each employee of Pakistan. Recently notification has been issued not to deduct this amount from the salaries of the employees of Pakistan.
